No. We move what needs moving and cover the rest. If you have anything fragile, valuable or sentimental, we would rather you put it somewhere safe yourself before we start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about how we quote, schedule and finish a job.
Interior Painting Questions
Do I need to move my own furniture?
Can I stay in the house while you paint?
Almost always, yes. We work room by room so you keep the rest of the house. We will tell you the night before which rooms are coming offline.
How long before I can put the room back together?
Walls are dry to the touch in a few hours, but latex paint keeps curing for a couple of weeks. We put furniture back the same day and just ask that you avoid scrubbing the walls for the first two weeks.
Do you paint ceilings and trim too, or just walls?
All of it. Ceilings, walls, trim, doors and casings. Doing trim at the same time as walls is also cheaper than bringing us back for it later.
What paint do you use?
Premium interior lines from the major manufacturers, matched to the room. Kitchens and bathrooms get a washable, moisture-tolerant finish; ceilings get a flat that hides imperfections. We will tell you exactly what is going on your walls before we start.
Exterior Painting Questions
What time of year is best to paint an exterior in Arkansas?
Spring and fall are ideal because temperatures and humidity are moderate. We paint through the summer as well by working the shaded side of the house and starting early. Deep winter is the only window we generally advise against.
Do you pressure wash before painting?
Always. New paint will not bond to dirt, pollen, mildew or chalked old paint. The wash is included in every exterior quote, not billed as an extra.
Can you paint over brick?
Yes, with the right masonry primer and a coating made for it. It is worth knowing up front that painted brick is effectively permanent, so it is a decision to be sure about before we start.
How long will an exterior paint job last?
With full prep and quality product, most Central Arkansas exteriors hold up well for eight to twelve years. South and west elevations take the most sun and will always show wear first.
What happens if it rains mid-job?
We stop and tarp anything that needs it. Coatings need a minimum dry window before they get wet, and we would rather lose a day than have to redo an elevation.
Cabinet Painting & Refinishing Questions
Is refinishing really cheaper than new cabinets?
Substantially. Refinishing a kitchen typically costs a fraction of replacement because you are keeping the boxes, the layout and the countertops. The exact saving depends on door count and condition.
Will I be able to use my kitchen?
Mostly. The sink, range and refrigerator stay available. There is a stretch in the middle of the job where the doors are off being sprayed, and we will tell you which days those are.
Can you paint oak cabinets without the grain showing?
Yes, but it takes an extra step. Open-grain oak needs a grain filler before priming if you want a glass-smooth finish. We will quote it either way and let you decide.
How durable is a painted cabinet finish?
Sprayed with a proper bonding primer and a cabinet-grade topcoat, it holds up to daily kitchen use for years. It needs about two weeks to fully cure, so we ask you to be gentle with the doors at first.
Can you change my hardware at the same time?
Yes. If you are moving from knobs to pulls we will fill the old holes during prep and drill the new pattern before finishing.
Drywall & Sheetrock Repair Questions
Can you match my existing ceiling texture?
In most cases, yes. Knockdown and orange peel match reliably. Popcorn is harder because the aggregate size varies by era, but we get very close and prime the whole ceiling so it reads as one surface.
Do I need to fix the leak before you repair the drywall?
Yes. We will patch the drywall, but if the source of the water is still active the repair will fail. We are happy to look and tell you what we think is going on.
Why do nail pops keep coming back?
Because the fastener is moving with the framing as it expands and contracts. The fix is to add a screw nearby into solid framing, remove or reset the popped fastener, then patch. Just filling the hole will pop again.
Will the repair be visible after painting?
It should not be. That is what the feathering, the texture match and the spot-priming are for. On a wall with a sheen higher than eggshell we will often recommend painting the full wall corner to corner so there is no chance of flashing.
How much dust does this make?
Sanding drywall compound is dusty work. We mask openings, cover floors and contain the area, and we clean up at the end of each day rather than at the end of the job.
Drywall Finishing & New Construction Questions
Do you hang drywall or only finish it?
Both. We can take a framed space through hanging, taping, floating, texture and paint, or come in and finish rock that someone else has hung.
What is a level 5 finish and do I need one?
Level 5 means the whole surface is skim coated, not just the seams and fasteners. You want it on walls that will get a sheen above flat or that sit under strong side light. For most bedrooms and hallways, level 4 is fine.
How long does a whole-house finish take?
It depends on square footage and how many coats the weather allows to dry per day, but a typical new home runs one to two weeks from taping to final sand. Humidity slows it down and we would rather wait than trap moisture in a joint.
Can you match the texture in the rest of my house for an addition?
Yes, and it is worth doing. A new room that does not match the texture of the rooms it opens onto will always read as an addition. We sample the existing texture and match it before committing.
Trim, Doors & Millwork Questions
Should trim be a different sheen to the walls?
Usually, yes. Trim is typically a semi-gloss or satin against an eggshell or flat wall. The sheen difference is what makes the trim read as trim, and the harder finish holds up to being touched and cleaned.
Can you paint my stained wood trim white?
Yes. It needs a bonding, stain-blocking primer or the tannin in the wood will bleed through and yellow the finish. It is also worth thinking about carefully first, because reversing it is impractical.
Do you install trim or only paint it?
We handle finish work and repairs to existing trim. For significant new millwork installation we will tell you honestly whether it is within our scope on that particular job.
Is it cheaper to do trim at the same time as the walls?
Noticeably. The masking, setup and cleanup are shared, so doing trim during a wall repaint costs meaningfully less than bringing us back for it as a separate visit.
Pressure Washing Questions
Will pressure washing damage my siding?
Not when the pressure is matched to the material. Vinyl, wood and older masonry all need a gentler approach than concrete. Using the same setting on everything is how siding gets damaged.
Do you use chemicals or just water?
Both, depending on what is on the surface. Mildew and algae need a cleaning solution to actually kill the growth. Water alone knocks off the surface layer and it returns quickly.
How soon after washing can you paint?
The surface has to be genuinely dry, which in Arkansas humidity usually means a day or more for siding and several days for wood that is going to be stained. We schedule around it rather than rushing it.
Can you wash my driveway and walkways too?
Yes. Concrete flatwork takes higher pressure than siding and cleans up dramatically. It is a common add-on when we are already on site for a house wash.
Commercial Painting Questions
Can you work outside of business hours?
Yes, and most of our commercial work runs that way. Evenings, overnight and weekends are all normal for us. We agree the schedule and building access before the job starts.
Will we have to close while you paint?
Almost never. We phase the work so part of the space stays open, or we work entirely outside your trading hours. We will walk the sequence with you before we begin.
Do you handle rental and apartment turnovers?
Yes, including recurring work for property managers. Once we know your standard colors and finishes, turnarounds get faster each time.
How do you handle odor in an occupied building?
By using low-VOC and zero-VOC products where the specification allows, and by ventilating properly. For sensitive environments we will confirm the product choice with you in advance.
General FAQs
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free and there is no obligation. We walk the job with you, explain what we think it needs, and give you a written number.
What areas do you serve?
Little Rock, North Little Rock, Jacksonville, Sherwood, Maumelle, Mabelvale, Benton, Bryant, Cabot, Conway and the surrounding Central Arkansas communities. There is no travel surcharge anywhere in that area.
How far in advance do I need to book?
A couple of weeks is comfortable for most interior work. Exterior work in spring and fall books up faster, so more notice helps. If you have a hard deadline, tell us at the estimate and we will be straight with you about whether we can hit it.
Is the estimate the final price?
Yes, unless you ask us to add work or we find something genuinely hidden, like rot behind siding that could not be seen until we started scraping. If that happens we stop, show you, and agree the change before carrying on.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not necessarily. Plenty of our customers are at work during the day. We agree access arrangements at the estimate and we will tell you at the end of each day what was finished and what is coming next.
What paint brands do you use?
Premium lines from the major manufacturers, chosen for the surface and the room rather than for what is cheapest. We will tell you exactly what product is going on your walls before we start, and you are welcome to ask us to use something specific.
Do you clean up afterwards?
Every day, not just at the end. Drop cloths come up, tools get put away and the space is left usable. At the end of the job we walk it with you before we load the truck.
How do I get started?
Call (501) 453-3565 or send us a message through the contact page. Photos help, but we will come out and look at the job in person before quoting anything.
